📐 About this role

Every company grows differently, and we grow when we help our users write better, faster. We are looking for someone to create and champion Writer’s growth and lifecycle marketing efforts - helping our users understand and get the full value out of Writer. In this highly strategic role you'll build a deep understanding of the customer, from account creation and activation to expansion and upgrades — and optimize key parts of that journey. You'll own product messaging across platforms, and focus on creating tailored user journeys for all of Writer's segments (free, pro, team, enterprise). This is a highly cross-functional role that requires a close partnership with our product, sales and marketing teams, as well as talking directly to users to understand their wants and needs for the product.

To be successful in this position, you’ll need to be extremely comfortable with analyzing product usage data, looking at activation and retention funnels, running experiments and optimizations, and working with design and engineering to quickly design and launch growth initiatives. A successful candidate will be able to show prior success driving self-service activations and conversions. You'll initially be reporting to our Head of Inbound Marketing, and be working very closely with our CEO. At some point during the year, you’ll report to a VP of Marketing. You'll have an experienced senior frontend engineer as well as a senior growth marketing engineer to work on your initiatives with you though keyboard-level execution ability in tools like Help Scout and is expected.

You'll be the first person in this type of role, empowered to build the program from the ground up. We’re looking for someone who works backwards from excellence and has an unreal imagination — and works with a sense of urgency. 

🦸🏻‍♀️ Your responsibilities

  • Deeply understand the Writer customer, the key points in the customer journey, and uncover insights that will drive activation and engagement
  • Use data-driven approaches to create differentiated, relevant treatments across the lifecycle stages
  • Develop campaigns that will engage, nurture and grow our user base, and manage end-to-end strategy, copy/creative development and execution
  • Create user segments in tools like, determine conversion goals, and build messaging campaigns to target those users
  • Constantly measure and report campaign performance, rigorously A/B test, and optimize our communications across channels for effectiveness of messages, timing and frequency
  • Partner closely with other teams — including product, marketing, and sales — to serve the most effective content possible, share and respond to feedback, and strengthen our customer-facing efforts across the board

⭐️ Is this you?

  • +4 years experience in a lifecycle marketing role at a B2B SaaS company using freemium or free trial user acquisition and retention strategies
  • Relevant experience in creating and scaling end-to-end omnichannel programs (email, push, SMS) across customer lifecycle stages backed up by measurable ROI
  • You're fascinated by how people behave in product experiences, and have a scientific mindset about how to make even small changes in decision-making
  • Expertise in crafting marketing personas and targeting them with personalized content
  • Expertise creating data-driven campaigns in automated messaging platforms ( and Help Scout experience is a huge plus)
  • Experience building user segments with attributes and events to create highly customised campaigns
  • Strong analytical skills using BI platforms like Holistics
  • Experience using A|B testing tools that led to optimized results
  • High attention to detail
