About Census

Census is how data teams at companies like Figma, Notion, Canva, Mode, and Fivetran build better business operations.

With Census, analysts can turn their data warehouse into a single source of truth and publish their insights directly into the apps that go to market teams use daily. With live data, these teams can build better campaigns, understand what users are doing, and ultimately drive more sustainable revenue.

We're a tight-knit team based in San Francisco (and extended remotely!) who love taking annoying problems most people avoid and building elegant solutions for them. We believe that data should be used for more than just making charts. This is why we built the first integration platform that works directly within cloud data warehouses.

Your mission 📈

This is an opportunity for an entrepreneurial analyst to define the forefront of operational analytics while accelerating Census’ growth.

You will drive action with data. You will work at the forefront of the shift toward operational analytics. Your insights, analysis, and experiments will go directly into operational tools like CRMs and advertising platforms and have leverage on how the business operates. Some call it dog food, but you’ll find it tastes more like filet mignon.

You will own and evolve our metrics. These are exciting times at Census and our metrics are evolving as we grow. You will define, capture, become friends with, occasionally criticize, but always care for our metrics. These metrics will shape our definition of success and your analyses will help us achieve it. And don’t worry, you’ll be working with some of the best data people in the business!

You will be the answer and often the question too. There’s a lot of questions to answer but there are more questions to ask. You’ll apply your curiosity, crafty data chops, and analytical skills toward everything from small data inferences to valid sample sizes and rigorous confidence intervals, to exploratory predictions. Your findings will spark our go-to-market creativity, tune our performance, and sharpen our focus on all things growth.

You will help Census grow. As a member of a collaborative organization, you will contribute to our collective knowledge and our bottom line. You will help deepen our understanding of our current and future customers and have the opportunity to learn from a range of teams and cultures. You will be the link between data and growth and iteratively validate innovation with impact.

About you 🧪

You are a scrappy problem solver. You find ways to get to the bottom of things even when you can’t see the bottom.

You are a statistician. This includes experimental design for optimization, statistical significance, confidence intervals and predictive analytics techniques.

You are collaborative. You bring data to the conversation and bring insight back to the analysis.

You have an innate curiosity. You welcome opportunities to experiment and learn.

You are customer-centric to the core. You are not afraid to explore your audience’s ecosystem and engage with them through conversations online and in-person.

Bonus points if you like systems. We’re exploring operational analytics. Things will get interesting.
